Rasmus Bech, Badminton Europe - 10/20/2018 12:57:49 PM

Denmark will be the host of the 2019 European Mixed Team Championships, where the eight best team will fight for the European Champion title.

It is to be the third time that Denmark will be the host of the European Mixed Team Championships and for the first time in the history the city of Frederiksberg, which is part of the Danish capital Copenhagen will host a European badminton Championships.

- It is the first time we play these Championships with only the best eight teams in Europe. I am sure we will have a lot of high-quality matches and a great atmosphere in the venue, General Secretary of Badminton Europe, Brian Agerbak says.

A ‘very well organized’ event
After hosting the European Mixed Team Championships in 1996 (Herning) and 2008 (Herning) the Championships are back in Danish soil, and Brian Agerbak is happy to see that Badminton Denmark is the organizer of the big event.

- We are very happy that Badminton Denmark is hosting these Championships. When organized by Badminton Denmark we are always sure we will have a very well organizers event, Agerbak says.

- And being in Copenhagen means that we expect there to be run on the tickets as well. We are excited, BEC General Secretary adds.

Pleased to be welcoming the big players
The Danish host is also excited to welcome the eight best badminton teams of Europe.

- When we got the option to host the 2019 European Mixed Team Championships we, of course, said yes. Badminton Denmark is a badminton powerhouse, and we always like to host tournaments for the best players, CEO of Badminton Denmark, Bo Jensen said.

- One of the ways we can build on our vision to be a powerhouse is also to host the major events like a European Championships, he added.
